the desert beyond the waves, by Elizabeth Falkner

In the dream

Some of us had taken flight from the waves

To higher waves

Beyond the turquoise waves we swam

To vast sandy dunes

We flew for some time and then we were over an ancient cathedral

We hovered and someone said

Be careful, its hot

I got closer

And mentioned it wasn’t hot

So we stepped down and landed from flight

And walked around tide pools

Where little water remained

It was a desert in the middle of an ocean in another time
